—————— A CHAPTER INITIATIVE
Every practitioner was once shown the way.
The Lagos NIPR Mentorship Programme pairs early-career practitioners with senior members of the profession — structured guidance, one relationship at a time, across the grades that define a PR career in Nigeria.
01 — Why this exists
Two sides of the same profession
Mentorship works because it asks something specific of each side — not generic encouragement, but a real exchange between where someone is and where they’re headed.
For the mentee
What you gain
A senior practitioner reviewing your work and your case studies, not just your CV.
Direct guidance on moving through NIPR’s professional grades and examinations.
Introductions into the Chapter’s network of agencies, brands and institutions.
A candid read on your practice — what’s working, what isn’t, and why.
For the mentor
What you give — and gain
A structured, low-commitment way to shape the next generation of the profession.
Recognition within the Chapter as a contributor to member development.
A mentee who can extend your own capacity — research, drafts, ground-level insight.
Continuing contribution toward Fellow-level standing within the Institute.
02 — How pairing works
Matched across the grades
NIPR already structures a career into recognised grades. The Programme uses that same ladder to match each mentee with a mentor one or two rungs ahead — not a stranger, a near-future self.
